Colfax County Jail Roster Limits
The official Colfax County Jail page does not publish an online roster, booking-number search, recent-bookings list, or searchable inmate profile. It says the sheriff's office has a six-person holding cell, and it also says inmates are not housed there outside business hours. That makes the Colfax County inmate records process different from counties where the sheriff posts a daily roster.
The local lookup path starts with the Colfax County Sheriff's Office. Its phone number is (402) 352-8526, and the jail page lists business hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, closed holidays. If the person is no longer in the holding cell, the office may identify a transfer to Butler County Detention Center, Platte County Detention Facility, or Antelope County Law Enforcement Center. From that point, the receiving jail's rules control visits, mail, money, phone access, and some booking records.
The Colfax County Sheriff's Office page shows the agency contact and department overview used for local inmate-routing questions.
The sheriff page matters because Colfax County inmate records begin with local custody confirmation before any contract jail search can be trusted.
Find Colfax County Jail Inmates
A Colfax County inmate lookup works best as a short decision tree. Start local, then move only to the system that applies. Calling every contract jail without first asking Colfax may waste time, but waiting for an online Colfax roster will not help because no such roster was located in official sources. Have the person's full name, date of birth if known, arrest date, and arresting agency ready before calling.
- Call the Colfax County Sheriff's Office at (402) 352-8526 during posted business hours and ask whether the person is in holding, released, transferred, or scheduled for court.
- If the person was transferred, ask which contract detention center received the inmate and whether Colfax or the receiving facility controls the booking paperwork.
- If the person is at Platte County, check the Platte County Detention Facility page because it has a visible roster table.
- If the person has been sentenced to state prison, search the NDCS incarceration record search instead of the county jail path.
- For custody alerts, use NEVCAP. For federal or immigration custody, use BOP or ICE tools.
Note: No official Colfax sheriff or Schuyler police custody app was located, so no app-only roster should be expected.
Colfax County Roster Search Fields
Colfax County's official site supplies contact instructions, not a roster form. The Platte contract-facility roster is the one confirmed public roster in the research, and its visible fields are narrow. It confirms a listed person's name and pod, but the captured output did not show mugshots, booking numbers, charge text, bond amounts, court dates, or clickable inmate profiles.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Options / Format Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Online Colfax jail roster | Not located | n/a | Official Colfax page provides phone/contact instructions instead. |
| Booking number | Not located | n/a | No Colfax public booking-number search found. |
| Last name / first name | Not located for Colfax | n/a | No Colfax name-search roster was found. |
| Platte Last Name | Table column | n/a | Visible roster column, not a search input in the captured output. |
| Platte First Name | Table column | n/a | Visible roster column, not a search input in the captured output. |
| Platte POD | Table column | n/a | Examples include A-POD, B-POD, F-DORM, MD-1, and MD-2. |
Colfax County Inmate Profile Fields
Because Colfax County does not publish a full public inmate profile, the profile inventory is mostly a map of what is missing online and where to look instead. Booking and intake records may exist, but they are not displayed through a county web roster. Court charges and hearing dates sit in court systems. Sentence and prison-facility records sit with NDCS. Federal and ICE custody are outside the county system.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Current Colfax holding status | Not available online; call the sheriff during business hours. |
| Contract facility | Must be confirmed by Colfax or the receiving detention center. |
| Platte roster name fields | Last Name and First Name for people listed on Platte's visible roster. |
| Platte POD | Housing pod or unit label, not a full case summary. |
| Mugshot | Not shown on the Colfax page or the captured Platte roster output. |
| Charges | Not shown on Colfax or captured Platte roster output; use court records after filing. |
| Bond | Use court, jail phone, or approved facility payment channel depending on custody location. |
| Court date | Use Nebraska court calendar, Colfax County Court, District Court Clerk, or JUSTICE. |
Colfax County Jail Facilities
Colfax County inmate records often depend on the facility that physically holds the person. The sheriff's office is the local intake and routing point. Butler, Platte, and Antelope are contract detention paths named by the county. Platte has the richest public web detail. Butler and Antelope confirmed jail or law-enforcement-center contact information, but no official roster or full visitation schedule was located in the inspected sources.

Colfax County Booking Records
Colfax County booking can be a two-stage process. A person may be arrested by the Colfax County Sheriff's Office, Schuyler Police Department, Nebraska State Patrol, or another agency with jurisdiction. The person may be briefly held at the sheriff's holding cell, then released, taken to court, or transferred to Butler, Platte, or Antelope if custody continues. Colfax's jail page also lists a jail administrator and a transport officer, which fits the transfer-based model.
Platte County provides the clearest intake description for a contract facility. Its detention page says intake may include property intake, medical screening, fingerprinting, photographing, and warrant checks. It also says processing and release time can be affected by the number of people being processed and the availability of state and national database information. Those details should be treated as Platte facility context, not as a separate Colfax holding-cell manual.
- Booking
- Administrative intake after arrest, often including fingerprints, property, and photographs.
- Initial appearance
- The first court event where charges and release terms may be addressed.
- Personal recognizance
- Release based on a promise to appear without posting full cash bond.
- No-bond hold
- A status where payment alone will not release the person until the hold is resolved.
Colfax County Visitation Records
Colfax County does not publish a visitation, mail, phone, or commissary schedule for its holding cell because inmates are not housed there outside business hours. The county says detention-facility-specific questions should be answered by the detention center where the inmate is housed. For a Colfax County inmate record, that means the roster search and the visitation search may lead to different agencies.
| Facility | Visitation / Phone / Money Facts Located | Gaps |
|---|---|---|
| Colfax holding cell | No outside-business-hours housing; call the sheriff during business hours. | No visitation schedule, mail rules, commissary, or deposit system located. |
| Butler County Detention Center | Official sheriff phone and address located; interlocal housing agreement confirmed. | No official roster, visitation, mail, commissary, or deposit rules located. |
| Platte County Detention Facility | MyCarePack, smart deposit, collect calls after housing assignment, CIDNET, property release form, NEVCAP. | Specific local visitation schedule and fee table were not captured. |
| Antelope County Law Enforcement Center | GovPayNow and AllPaid links, phone, address, lobby notes. | No official visitation, mail, commissary, or roster rules located. |
Colfax County State Federal Search
County jail records and state prison records answer different questions. A person awaiting court or serving a short local term may be in the Colfax contract-jail chain. A person sentenced to Nebraska prison is searched through NDCS. The NDCS locator accepts Last Name, First Name, or DCS ID Number and requires a captcha. NDCS warns that accuracy questions go to its Records Administrator rather than to Colfax County.
Federal and immigration detention are also separate. The BOP inmate locator covers federal inmates from 1982 to the present. The ICE locator uses A-number or biographical data for people in ICE custody or certain CBP custody. If a Colfax case has a federal warrant, U.S. Marshals hold, or immigration detainer, a local bond may not end custody.
| Custody | Where to Look | Use When |
|---|---|---|
| Pretrial Colfax custody | Colfax Sheriff, then contract jail | Recent arrest, holding, transfer, or release questions |
| Sentenced Nebraska custody | NDCS locator | State prison sentence or state facility placement |
| Federal custody | BOP locator | Federal sentence or BOP record |
| Immigration detention | ICE ODLS | ICE custody or covered CBP custody |
Request Colfax County Jail Records
If a booking sheet, arrest report, mugshot, or older custody record is not online, use a public-records request. Colfax County's Freedom of Information Request page says requests should go to the department in charge of the record. If the requester is unsure, the request can go to the County Clerk, who forwards it to the proper department. The county says the department will contact the requester with an approximate fee before the requester decides whether to proceed.
Nebraska public-records law allows actual duplication costs and does not require the requester to state a purpose. Still, law-enforcement records can be withheld or redacted under exceptions, and a contract facility may hold records that Colfax does not. For charge status and court outcomes after filing, use the court systems rather than asking the jail to interpret the case. Booking photos are handled on the Colfax County jail mugshots page.
