This is a private reference site, not a government office. We cannot confirm custody, release a person, post bond, pull official booking records, retrieve police reports, or update court records. For an official answer, contact the agency that holds the record.

Official Colfax Contacts

For a Colfax County custody question, start with the office or system that matches the record. The sheriff's office is the local holding-cell contact. Court files are handled by the county or district court. Prosecution records and pending-charge questions follow the County Attorney's rules, and public-record requests go to the department that keeps the record or to the County Clerk if the correct department is unclear.

Use these paths for the most common Colfax County inmate and record questions:

  • For a current local custody question, start with jail inmate records and the Colfax County Sheriff's Office.
  • For a booking photo or arrest-identification photograph, review jail roster mugshots and request the record from the agency that holds it.
  • For charges, hearing dates, filings, or disposition after booking, use court records after a jail arrest, Colfax County Court, District Court, or Nebraska JUSTICE.
  • For a person moved from Colfax County to a contract jail, use the relevant facility page for Butler, Platte, or Antelope.
  • For a sentenced Nebraska prisoner, use the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services incarceration record search.
  • For federal custody, use the Federal Bureau of Prisons locator. For immigration custody, use the ICE Online Detainee Locator.

Colfax public-records guidance says requests should be sent to the department in charge of the record. If the right department is not clear, the request can go to the County Clerk for forwarding. The county provides an approximate fee before work proceeds, and Nebraska law allows actual duplication costs without requiring a purpose statement.
